Whilst you were commuting / breakfasting this morning Mick has been climbing the epic four tops and bidean druim nam ramh. Scary but looking good for the complete traverse now we are on easier ground working towards bruach na frithe.

Good morning!

Up about an hour already, hopefully by tonight we’ll be enjoying a pint in the sligachan, ridge done. Grey morning, no wind yet.

Big day!

Writing from a bivouac in a cave 2/3 of the way along the ridge just under the summit of sgurr gherriadh. We have had a massive day covering 12 peaks and doing some hair raising scrambling but are safe and warm now. Just about to put the tea on! Set off at 6.30 this morning so we were on the go for pretty much 13 hours straight.

Kyle of lochalsh

We made it to Skye and it’s sunny! Hooray! Looking forward to getting going tonight or tomorrow morning.

Glencoe

Just passed thru glencoe, weather overcast but dry and not too windy! Here’s a quick snap:

We’re off

Currently a Abbington services just south of Glasgow, hoping to be set up at glen brittle by mid afternoon. Weather looks mixed but we hope the distance we are west might help. A relatively clear 24 hour period will be enough to get most of it done we reckon. Wish us luck!

I was out in the excellent spring weather on sunday with Bill, Pat, Beth and the boys for an early start. We dropped a car at Barber Booth in Edale and then took the land rover to Alport on the Snake Pass.

Relaxing @ Kinder Downfall

Relaxing @ Kinder Downfall

We set off up Blackden Brook – a geat ascent route to the edge of kinder – beautiful sparkling water and blue sky. Oliver and William soon learnt how to make river crossings more fun by lobbing rocks at the correct moment to soak Pat. Route then took us to Fair Brook and then on a short crossing of the peat in dry conditions to Kinder River and the Downfall  which was dry as a bone. Fantastic views and great conditions onto Kinder Low and then down Jacobs Ladder to a welcome ice cream and tea at Barber Booth cafe.

All in all about 8.5 miles and 500m of climbing and descent. It was a great start and thanks to the gang – especially Oliver and William for  a QMD (Quality Mountain Day). Not aching  today – off for  breakfast walk to the fishing cafe to top up on grease.
